Shu Lan Ho, a renowned designer, has created a unique residential house named Roam Slowly. This 4-storey single house is a testament to the perfect blend of art, architecture, and design. With its distinct features and tranquil ambiance, Roam Slowly offers a haven for those seeking solace and relaxation.
The design of Roam Slowly focuses on the separation between public and private areas. The first floor houses the lounge and dining room, providing a warm and inviting space for social gatherings. As you ascend to the second and third floors, you'll find the main and secondary bedrooms, offering a peaceful retreat for rest and rejuvenation. Finally, the fourth floor is dedicated to the living room, where residents can unwind and enjoy panoramic views.
One of the standout features of Roam Slowly is its integration of nature-inspired elements. The lounge area boasts a vertical cedar wood structure that extends from the floor to the ceiling, resembling a towering tree. This unique design element brings a touch of the outdoors inside, creating a serene forest atmosphere. Additionally, the ceiling window allows natural light to flood the room, further enhancing the connection to nature.
The use of architectural concrete in the main TV wall adds a touch of elegance and simplicity to the space. The mild gray tones throughout the room create a soothing and calming environment. The furniture, carefully selected to match the color palette, complements the overall design aesthetic. Iron display cupboards and dining room cupboards add a harmonious balance, reminiscent of the yin and yang concept.
Roam Slowly spans across 230 square meters, providing ample space for residents to roam freely and find their own sanctuary within the house. The meticulous attention to detail and the use of high-quality materials contribute to the overall luxurious feel of the residence.
Shu Lan Ho's design philosophy for Roam Slowly revolves around simplicity and tranquility. The seamless integration of natural elements, the careful selection of materials, and the thoughtful layout of the space create a harmonious environment that promotes a slow-paced and restful lifestyle.
Roam Slowly is a testament to the power of design in creating spaces that nurture the soul and provide a respite from the fast-paced world. It is a place where one can truly roam slowly and find solace in the embrace of nature-inspired surroundings.
Roam Slowly is a masterpiece that showcases the ingenuity and creativity of Shu Lan Ho. It is a testament to the designer's ability to create spaces that not only captivate the eye but also provide a sanctuary for the soul.
Roam Slowly was completed in September 2016 in Taichung City, Taiwan. It is a testament to the designer's dedication and passion for creating spaces that enhance the quality of life.
Roam Slowly has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This award recognizes the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life.
